Mambo 4.6 member access problem[FIX ATTACHED HERE] 1 Year ago Karma: 0
My first post. I finally got it to show up. My mambo site registered users cannot access the chat room. I get a message that says the name is already in use and they have to choose a nick. There is no place I have found that will allow a visitor to register. The picture is the only entrance I get. Although I have the link on the users menu so that only registered users can use the room. And what's with the foreign language stuff indicated by the red marks. Any thoughts. Thanks...Tom

Access to blastchat component must be public, not for registered members only, you can disable visitor/guest access in room configuration.

This is Mambo 4.6 specific error that is already fixed in upcoming client 2.3, till then if you can manually:

1. Go to /.../components/com_blastchatc
2. Backup file blastchatc.php (rename it to blastchatc.php_bak or something similar)
3. Overwrite blastchatc.php file with file attached here

Thanks for the quick reply. I uploaded the new file and re-registered it, but I have the same condition. I will just wait fot the release of the new one. It is listed as public, it is just in the user menu so it is accessable only for registered users. The User Menu will not show if I make it registered only. I have to make it public, then it will show fine when someone logs in. This is not officeally launched yet, I have to tie it to my other web site, but I do like the program (after I understood the sucker). After working in HTML for so long you have to reorient your thinking to make this work.

Thanks Again, Tom

This is change for Mambo 4.6 that is implemented in attached file:

if ($_VERSION) {
$prod=$_VERSION->PRODUCT;
$rel=$_VERSION->RELEASE;
$dev=$_VERSION->DEV_LEVEL;

if ($prod == "Joomla!"«») {
if ($rel _session;
}
} else if ($prod == "Mambo"«») {
if ($rel _session;
} else {
//rel=4.6
//dev=x
$myss =& mosSession::getCurrent();
}
}
}

I have another Mambo 4.6 admin who uses this file on his website with no problems. I am quite surprised it does not work on your Mambo website. Feel free to dig around and adjust it, problem was only that Mambo 4.6 changed $mainframe->_session variable, so access to user session data was broken, and client did not send proper username of current member.

It works fine now. I uploaded it directly to the server through FTP and didn't realize I should have used the mambo installer. After I uploaded it through mambo it works. You have a tough job working with all the people who have no business messing around with code and websites. I admire you.

Thanks again. Tom

Yes, you must install BlastChat client as a normal component (so tables in database are created), to upload a fix file it is fine to ftp and overwrite particular file.
