For my chat whenever someone tries to say something, it takes anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds for the chat to display what the user has said. Is this normal?

yes, this is normal, your client is reading other chatters messages every 10 seconds, or when you manually refresh, or when you submit message.

Oh, okay. Well Blastchat is really cool aside from that, is there any way I can adjust the auto-refresh to less than 10 seconds?

I am experimenting with 5sec refresh rate during activity. And automatic adjustable rate in case user is idle or there are no messages in the room.
