Do you have Joomla installed? Then you must have at least some idea about your database (database name, database access username and password) because this information is needed during Joomla installation.

Your webhosting company must give you access to some sort of database administration tool like phpMyAdmin (most common). Contact your webhosting company and request more information about that. This tool allows you to manipulate data inside your database directly.

You can always install one of Joomla Database Management tools which allows you to do simple database tasks (like delete table etc., but be very careful with those)

I have access to phpMyAdmin and I can open up the _blastchatc table and see the adm_expand column. How can I remove the column? I tried check the adm_expand checkbox and "drop" it. But it keeps coming back. Thanks.

What exact error/problem with chat do you have? (if you know phpMyAdmin we can solve it very fast)

I installed 2.3 client on my Mambo 4.5.2 site and when I try to go components-->blastchat client--> configure, I got the following error

Error updating database: DB function failed with error number 0

SQL =

UPDATE `mos_blastchatc` SET version='2.3'

I try to follow the solution you posted before to delet the column of adm_expand from _blastchatc table. I don't know how to delete the field in the table since I am new to phpMyAdmin. I would appreciate if you can walk me thru. Thanks.

Well, I do not see any problem with adm_expand in your situation. Installation of client 2.3 happened alright, only database upgrade failed at the last step. This should fix it:

Find table mos_blastchatc, find data in that table (not table structure), and change field "version" from 2.2 value to 2.3 manually (remember, change data in table row, not default value in table structure).
