I have blast chat up and running and I love it.

Also customer support here was fantastic.

What would be involved with blast chat having
the ability for chatters to voice communicate?

Is it in the plans or is is a crazy thought?

not crazy thought at all, just out of the scope of this service
(may be some day in future, when time and money permits to do so)

we could create something like that if we would use flash or java
