When guest tries to enter members only room (set in room configuration), he will be rejected with a message that only registered members can enter that particular room.

Anybody can enter chat, but not everybody can enter all rooms (if guest can not enter your room he can wonder into global rooms and chat there if they desire to do so - blastchat network global rooms)

This way you can have different rooms for different audience.

I hope this makes sense to you and you realize it actually serves your needs (it attracts guests into chat, then they realize they have to create account to be able to enter room, but they can see how many chatters are in each room).

We want every website visitor to have a chance to enter chat. And yes, it help the exposure (we did not place backlink into the module itself, as that is too much in our opinion, takes space in limited module space)

If you really need not public link, if you subscribe to "License" feature, you can do so.

Ahh, sorry I didn't realize that.

But I'd really like to give my registered users something extra. So they feel motivated to register and become a part of this community.

Kindly asking, why am I required to have the chat-link public? Is it to give you more exposure? I'd totally respect that, but then I wonder if it would be ok for you to have the module public only, with the "join chat" link. It would give you exposure enough, my site has more than 7000 unique visitors each month.

(Very off-topic, but I couldn't se any PM-function around here...)

I only want registered & logged in users on my chat, so I've set joomla up to display the "chat" link in my menu for registered users only. If you remember, you agreed to make link to chat public on your registration form. So please leave it public.

You can make logged in users (i.e. members) only rooms, simply explore room configuration in chat admin area and set proper guest privileges.

Ahh... just one small problem.

I only want registered & logged in users on my chat, so I've set joomla up to display the "chat" link in my menu for registered users only.

but I want this "who is online" module thing to be visable for everyone. but then the "join chat" link creates problems, because if you're not logged in, and click on it, blastchat asks you for a temporary username. I want only registered and logged in people to have the privilege to use my little chat .

Is there any way to remove the "join chat" link within the module, or is there any way to completely dis-allow not registered users to join the chat?

would be truly greatful for some guidance here. thanks

best regards

peter

EDIT : sorry. I tried to enter my chat as a not-registered user via the "join chat" link but got the "To enter room CRASHDÏET, you must become a member of crashdiet.sc10.se." message. This is OK but not really perfect.
I'd prefer if non logged in users got the message above immediatly, without having to try to login first... So... Any ideas & suggestions would be truly appreciated! Thanks again!

Wow. Thanks alot! This was exactly what I was looking for. Didn't realize there was a "module" for joomla, as well as the client itself. Now I know better, and everything works perfect. Thanks a million!!!

Simply download install and properly configure BlastChat Client 3.2.2 module. Module Combines WhoIsOnline with WhoIsChatting (online visitor count, chatters count, online member usernames list, member usernames chatting). Can present Community Builder avatars, link to chat, link to room and link to CB profiles.

If you experience any problems with module, feel free to write to our forums, we will help you as soon as we can.
